The captain thought that if mermaids were actually real, then the legendary treasure he wants to possess also exist. Granger, with a cunning glint in his eye, saw an opportunity in the wounded creature before him. His mind raced with possibilities. Perhaps this mythical being could lead him to the Ocean's Heart with her otherworldly knowledge of the seas. Or maybe she possessed some hidden ability that could aid him in overcoming the dangers that awaited them on the mysterious island.
